چکیده
Within the current challenges in medicinal chemistry, development of new and better therapeutic agents effective against infectious diseases produced by bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites stands out. With chemotherapy as one main strategies these focusing on administration organic inorganic drugs, latter is generally based synergistic effect formation metal complexes with biologically active compounds. In this sense, Schiff bases (SBs) represent ideal ligand scaffold since they have demonstrated a broad spectrum antitumor, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory activities, among others. addition, SBs are synthesized an easy manner from one-step condensation reactions, being thus suitable for facile structural modifications, having imine group coordination point found most their complexes, promoting chelation when other donor atoms three, four, or five bonds apart. However, despite wide variety literature using type ligands, only handful them include structures tridentate ligands biological evaluation has been explored. Hence, review summarizes important antimicrobial activity results reported far pincer-type (main d-block) derived ligands.

In order to evaluate the influence of substitution on biological properties of Schiff bases and their metal complexes, a series of differently substituted fluorine-containing Schiff bases starting from the drug isoniazid (isonicotinylhydrazide) were prepared and their structures were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Also, four copper(II) complexes of these Schiff bases were synt...
